Medical Record & Practice Update
We have been very busy closing the office and have done our best to make this transition as smooth as possible for all of us. I reached out to many physicians and I am sad to say that it is difficult to find an OB/GYN that is in solo practice or who even has an interest in taking over a solo practice, everyone now works for large medical groups or for the hospital. With that being said, I encourage you to do your research and to talk with your friends and family in order to find a physician you will feel comfortable with.
The practice of E. John Serrão, MD, FACOG is now officially closed and we are moving Serrão Rejuvenation Center to Maitland on August 30th. We are no longer answering the telephone as our phone system and internet service is being disconnected and transferred to the new location, the phone numbers will remain the same. Our communication services will be restored at the new location by September 6th and we will begin seeing medical spa and wellness patients on September 7th.
For those of you who have requested copies of your medical records and have been informed that they are ready, please pick them up by August 26th at 2:00 pm. We are now in the process of packing all records and they will be stored in a secured storage facility. For those of you who have not requested your records yet, please allow us two weeks to get settled in our new location. We will begin accepting new medical record releases on Monday, September 12th. Once the record release is received for yourself or your new physician, please allow 10 to 14 business days for our staff to prepare your records. Stephanie will call you to let you know that they are ready to be picked up at our new location in Maitland which is listed below. We look forward to seeing you all in our new location and may God bless all of you.

To all of my patients,
I am writing this letter to let each of you know that the time has come for me to retire. This was a very difficult decision, but it is the best decision for me at this point in my life. As many of you know, I became very ill with COVID and was hospitalized for over two weeks. As I laid in the hospital bed alone, I realized how fragile my life was and that I wanted to spend more quality time with my family. My wife and I have been very blessed and have entered the next chapter in life, we are grandparents! I want to enjoy this chapter to the fullest, but in doing this I must close the chapter of caring for all of you for the past thirty-one years.
That chapter of my life was another blessing and I want to thank each of you for allowing me to be you physician and your friend. The years I spent as your OB/GYN were everything that I had hoped for when I entered medical school in 1980. You entrusted me with your lives and the lives of your unborn children, for this I will always be grateful. I want all of you to know that through the many years of sleepless nights, I truly cared for each of you as I would have wanted my own wife or mother to have been cared for. I will miss all the laughs, the tears, the advice, and our many political conversations that always seemed to cause long wait times no matter how hard I tried to stay on schedule. I have had a wonderful medical career and thank you all for allowing me to care for you, as well as your family and friends.
At this time, I have been talking with many doctors who I consider to be good candidates to take over my practice. With that being said, it has been a very long process and I will keep you all posted as the transfer develops. All future updates and notifications will be posted on our website at drserrao.com regarding this matter. If you prefer to seek care from another OB/GYN, please contact that provider’s office and complete a transfer of medical records release so that we can transfer your medical records directly to them prior to August 26, 2022. The last day for GYN appointments will be August 19th with the practice and location of E. John Serrão, MD, FACOG being officially closed on August 31, 2022.
For those of you who are also patients of my medical spa, those services will be relocated to Maitland with an opening date in early September. The new office will be located in the Maitland Square Office Complex next to the Maitland post office. The address is 331 North Maitland Avenue, Maitland, Florida in Suite D-7. All skin care and anti-aging services will be provided from the same team of experts you have grown to love and trust over the years, we are all looking forward to seeing you at the new location!
